We are Dominicanos En Acción (Dominicans In Action), a CIC UK-based organisation dedicated to promoting Dominican Arts, Culture and Community in the UK.
We encourage integration and participation of the Dominican community in the UK by developing free events, book club meetups and our yearly charitable causes.
Dominican people are strong, creative and resilient. No matter what our community sets out to do, we do it! That’s why we our proud to showcase rising Dominican talent in hope of inspire new generations with real-world successes.
Community and family is at the heart of everything we do. Even if it’s just to hang out, talk about life and share our struggles. We believe in the power of bonding thru music, laughter and good food!
We love to read books, learn new perspectives and expand our mind. Host Marita Fullinck - Google, is the creative and inspirational force behind our empowering DA Book Club Series. Each month our group reads a new book, with a wide array in topics ranging from race to poetry. Some sessions are live with authors!
With a playful and rhythmic style, author, filmmaker and researcher, Karlina Veras manages to transport us to a Caribbean full of adventure. YunYun is made up of some 30 micro-stories that depict the beauty of every day moments by celebrating Dominican culture, expressions and mannerisms through words.
Immerse yourself with articles, expert interviews, historic archeological site visits and learn more about an often unspoken part of our island identity, the Taínos. From an Anthropological Geneticist to a Celebrity Chef (and so many more), our experts have donated their time to help bring awareness towards our indigenous roots and inspire environmental sustainability across all generations and nationalities.
We are honored to host brilliant experts at the forefront of Taino History, Literature, Art, Music, Travel and Science. Each of our experts will share more about their work and will take part in a LIVE digital panel discussing the topics listed under each volume.
